In 2285, tensions were high between the Klingon Empire and the Federation. A new line of starships was built to act as border-patrol vessels. Two types of frigates were designed for this need. The general purpose frigates, the Miranda Class, and the more heavily-armoured Attack/Tactical Frigates, the Soyuz Class.
